Be joyful always

   Ethan spilled an entire bag of rice on the floor while I was making dinner last night.  James can and swept it up, I finished dinner, we ate cleaned up and everyone got ready for bed.  Then, I walked into the kitchen to find Ethan sweeping.  It must have looked like fun when dad was sweeping earlier.
   This made me remember, that as parents, we are always being watched.  The way we go about our everyday chores impacts how our children will view their chores.  When we obey our Father in heaven and joyfully go about our day, we are setting into motion a joyful obedience in our children.
Be joyful always;
pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will
for you in Christ Jesus.

Strong Foundations

   A couple of years ago, I had a conversation with a friend of mine about goals that we had for raising our children.  We talked about the obvious things, like making sure that our boys could cook at least a couple of complete meals, do their own laundry, clean the house correctly, and change the oil and the tires on their cars.  We also talked about instilling values in them that could benefit their future lives, like a love for God, honesty, dependability, and a strong work ethic.
   All of these are noble, even necessary goals to have for our children, but it hit me, they are not the main goal.
   My new main goal is to have my boys read through the Bible in its entirety, from beginning to end, over and over, until they are grown up.  The Bible is the best teacher.  It is the Word of God.  It will give them a strong foundation so that they can confidently face all that life has to offer, the good and the bad, and not be knocked over.

Welcome

Hello to all.  I am new to blogging, but it is a fun way to share with friends and family what is happening with the Brewers.  Please feel free to ask questions and make comments.
